Lior Vishinski, son of Osnat and Shlomo Vishinski, brother to Dana and Liron, was born to a family of Israeli actors, and together with his sister Dana he grew up in The Cameri Theatre. A young man who loved life and wasn't afraid of anything, Lior was killed in a military operation on Philadelphi route on May 12th, 2004, as a result of a direct hit at the vehicle his was riding with three other soldiers. The four of them were serving in a special unit on a voluntary basis. The Vishinski family, friends, and the family of Israeli theatre founded the LIOR FUND in commemoration of his name.
The mission of the Lior Fund is to bring culture and art to Israeli soldiers.
The Fund operates in the following areas:
Performances - The Fund supports special performances for thousands of soldiers and reserve units in coordination with the Education Corps. The performances included:" Fiddler on the Roof" "Ghetto," "All My Sons," and the successful musical "Kazablan." Most of the performances are part of the Sunday Culture Project.
Study Fellowships - Since 2006 the Fund offers Study Fellowships to students who served in the military and in the civil service. The fellowships are given to students in culture and the arts that study in the peripheries and fulfill special social and economic standards. !5 fellowships are given every year.
Libraries in Military Bases - The Fund founded libraries in military bases throughout the country.
Culture Events - The Lior Fund holds culture events in those units that have the libraries supported by the Fund. In these events, Israeli artists perform on a voluntary basis. Prominent press professionals participate in them as well.
